This depends on your destination and varies from season to season, country to country. Summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere are ideal, although many destinations are open all year.

Generally, in the summer months in the northern hemisphere, the Mediterranean is hard to beat. Winter in the southern hemisphere – when the weather is temperate and trade winds favourable – is ideal for exploring the South Pacific. Australia and Tonga are perfect for all-year sailing. Destinations such as Turkey or Greece are suitable only for the extended summer season. And, in some Caribbean destinations, sailing is closed during hurricane season. Research your destination and take base closures into account.
